Simple

The simple information pages are aimed at those who want to find out what a medical scan is for, and what it will be like to have one. All difficult terms will be defined, and the information should be easy to understand even for people who have never studied science. It should be suitable for everyone from primary school level upwards.

Standard

The standard level builds upon the information at the simple level, including more thorough explanations of the scans, their uses, and how they work. Complicated terms will still be defined, and tricky maths won't be included, but it will help to have studied science at secondary school level. These pages might also link to additional pages to explain certain concepts in more detail.

Advanced

The advanced level explanations are aimed at those who have a strong mathematical and scientific background, but may not have specific knowledge of medical physics. The theoretical background of the scans will be described, alongside their principles of operation. Mathematics may be used in the explanations, and links to further explanations of scientific content will be included. The standard level can provide the patient experience information, and the advanced the additional scientific explanations.
